Laingsburg, MI
We had originally planned to sleep here. But after a day of cold snowy hikes, and a few that we shortened due to weather, we are way ahead of schedule. It’s a good thing too, because the park website lied to me. As we pull into the park there is a sign stating that the campground is closed for the season. Looks like that burger and a warm bed are in my future after all.
I pick the trail called the Island Loop thinking that the name might impart some extra warmth and positive vibes. I am right only in that there is less snow on the ground. But the melted snow left large puddles to traverse.

Feet/paws soaked, we reach the bridge to the island. In warmer weather, Gob would have tried to swim the gap. But he happily plods along beside me to the other side.

The island vibes aren’t hitting. The grey skies and dusting of snow a constant reminder that we are still in the Midwest. But Gob is having a blast in the cold. And it is a quite lovely trail. Now bring on the warmer weather!
