Mears, MI
On to our second park stop of the ultimate-winter-momma-roadtrip. The snow is growing steadier. There is no longer any blue in the sky. What better way to experience beachy sand dunes?

We climb the stairs up the first dune and are instantly transported to an alien-like landscape. There are no other signs of life. We are completely alone. We start walking in the direction I assume will take us to Lake Michigan.

We walk for what seems like forever, and eventually make to the waters edge. But it is not Lake Michigan. We have walked a mere half mile or so (if that) to the edge of Silver Lake. It is cold, and the snow continues to increase in ferocity. We turn back, thankful that we can still see our footprints.

If not for our footprints, we may not have found our way back to the car.
I mean, I could have pulled out my GPS map and easily found our way back, but where’s the fun and drama in that?

Back at the top of the staircase, we realize the we could LITERALLY SEE Lake Michigan if we had only turned and looked the other direction. Alas, it was probably better in the long run. I don’t think we would have made it to the shore and back before the sun set. And we still had one more stop to make.
