Pentwater, MI
The sun is but a mere glow on the horizon. The snow has ceased to fall. With limited time, we throw on headlamps and yak-tracks.

We cautiously start our way out to the pier. Our yak-track claws are the only thing keeping us upright on the ice. And out of the swirling pool of ice cubes that surround us.

Nobody is as shocked as me that my mother is the first one to the end of the pier. As the sunlight fades completely, I drag her back to the car. After today, I think she’s officially caught the Michigander bug.
