Hancock, MI
We arrive with barely enough sunlight to set up camp. A bit of fog is already rolling in. And out go my hopes for a starry night sky or a peak at the northern lights. I get a campfire started and lay out our damp towels and blankets. Gob lays on them and falls asleep. They still get mostly dry.

I wake up around 6:30 am to a downpour of rain. I take it as a sign to sleep in, hoping that the rain will stop or at least slow. Now 8 o’clock, it shows no signs of letting up. Neither Gob nor I are thrilled to exit the car, but we must at least attempt our planned hike.

We are immediately soaked through. Gob decides he doesn’t mind all that much, but I do. We don’t even make it out of the campground and on to the official trail before I abandon course.

Once back in the car, I decide to go search for the lighthouse. Maybe the rainy skies will lend to some cool pictures. And at least we can get a little hike in. But it is raining harder, and I still have not read the manual on my waterproof camera. I manage a few solid shots before getting too cold. We head back to the car in hopes that we can leave the rain up north.
