Paulding, MI
Just a short distance from Agate Falls we find another beautiful site to explore. Similar to Agate, this trail is also paved and leads to a wooden boardwalk/viewing platform. But this platform is far superior. It arcs around the front of the falls, providing a spectacular view from all angles. The boardwalk is littered with elderly folk enjoying the view. I hope that I am still out enjoying nature when I reach that age. I hope that nature still exists when I reach that age. But this is not time to lament on climate change.

After his last experience in the rapids, Gob perks up at the sound of bubbling water. He squeezes his face between every fence post in an attempt to reach the rapids. Eventually we reach the edge of the boardwalk, and the steps that so nicely lead us right to the water. He is back at play. The elderly onlookers giggle at his pure joy.

As my dog dunks, so does my camera.

There is a small path that leads up the sides of falls so that you can view it from the top. While not usually my favorite view of the falls, I do love completing a loop. The trail is contorted with roots. Their efforts to trip me are only moderately successful. Maybe I shouldn’t continue to explore when I get older. I’ll surely break a hip. Maybe I shouldn’t continue exploring now. I’m surprised I haven’t broken a hip already.
