Indian River, MI
Drained of energy like raisins in the sun, we arrive at our final destination – sort of.

The beach looks lovely enough. Families having cookouts swarm the grills. Boats dot the water. But signs stating “no animals” block our every entrance to the water. I’m sure this is a great park for families of people, but for the pet-inclusive family it doesn’t give a lot of options.
The website boasts a 1-mile foot trail that skirts the lake. But I cannot seem to find it. Unless it’s truly just walking next to the lake. We get to the end of the campground loop, and Gob climbs under a boat trailer to escape the sun. We abandon our explorations and head to my backup trail.
Enter Agnes S. Andreae Nature Preserve and the loop to nature’s megaphone. A quick 2 mile loop through the forest. The trail followed the river, and Gob keep stealing longing glances at it.

We reached the megaphone. A weird extra-terrestrial looking contraption. Obviously, we climbed in and waited to be transported to another dimension. Unfortunately we stayed put. Or did we?

The hike down took us closer to the river. Gob finally had enough and we took a plunge. Now thoroughly tuckered out, we hopped back in the car for a long drive home.
