Cedar River, MI
Thoroughly exhausted, we arrive at our campsite for the night. We check in well before 1 AM, and I pass as a normal human being. This time we are at a rustic campsite, which means no strangers in sight. Gob and I set up camp and start a fire, then wait for our adventure friends to join us.
No sooner had we started to relax than a young boy bicycles up screaming for help. His pal had wiped out coming down the hill and “was bleeding pretty bad.” I let out a heavy sigh, grab my limited first aid kit, and head over to assist as best I can. Somehow almost an hour had passed by the time his parents and a park ranger made it to the scene. Spoiler alert, he lived.
Back at the campsite, Gob is mad that I locked him in the car. He eventually forgives me and falls asleep by the fire. Friends arrive. I try to hold conversation, but am soon too tired to function and we all retire to our respective cars to sleep.

Gob once again wakes up for a morning swim at the crack of dawn. He knows there is a lake just a short path away from the camp. He is very unsure about a suspicious rock out in the lake and spends a few minutes barking at it before bravely walking out to sniff it. He ultimately decides it is ok.

Coffee. Donuts. Then back in the car to our first hike of the day.
