Peninsula Point Lighthouse

July 3, 2021

Rapid River, MI

We are both tired, but the sun will be setting soon and the promise of a lakeside sunset complete with a lighthouse is just too tempting. I promise Gob that we will skip the hike at this one (which was a good choice because once we got to the trail head we learned it was riddled with poison ivy).

The parking lot was full, and the angle wasn’t quite right for the perfect sunset shot.

But we were able to find a small patch of shoreline to ourselves and enjoyed the view from there. Gob of course took another dip.

The spiral staircase enticed me to climb. But Gob is not keen on grated steps. And there was a man sweeping at the top that I did not want to disturb. Next time.

Sight seen. On to camp. Sleep today. Hike tomorrow.

Miles Driven: 723
Miles Hiked: still 16
Bodies of Water Jumped In: 7
