Brighton, MI
The sun is shining and plants are coming back to life! I convince Mason to abandon his studies and join me for a “4 mile” hike. Finals be damned.

We come across a bridge. A simple cement structure with a thin cement railing. We pause so that I can take a picture. Gob has just taken a dip, but wants more. He puts his paws up on the wall, trying to peak over, but he is too short. Mason points out over the edge and says something. Gob, thinking the command was for him, begins to leap onto what he must assume is a platform and not a 3 inch wide ledge. Thankfully Mason is paying attention and stops him just in time to prevent Gob from tumbling over, and thus pulling me, still attached at the hip, with him. Neither of us have faith that he would have stuck the landing.

The trail is full of hills. We grumble going up, but sprint going down.

Gob will never understand why bridges are built over streams. He would much rather wade or swim across.

As we near the end of our hike, we pass a sign saying “4 miles”. Mason gets excited, thinking we are almost done. “Yep,” I say. We continue on for another mile.
