My measly progress as red highlight over the trail. Since my start on this journey they have added 2 miles to the eastern edge of the trail. Just to mock me I suppose.
4/3/22
Pickney, MI
Nearly a year has passed since my last section. This time I connect my previous two runs. Adding 5.5 miles to my total. Which I thought would put me at the halfway point. But now the trail map says it is 33 miles in total, so I am just shy. 16/33. It’s all west from here.

Whitmore Lake, MI
Back to the trail I have come. Maybe for the half-marathon training. Maybe because I have a new mini-goal to run this entire trail (not continuously…). Through the rain, I have added 4.5 miles to my total. Bringing me to 10.5/32. So much farther to go. But at least it’s all in my favorite direction now – west.

4/4/2021
Pinckney, MI
On this day, I turn 29. On this day, I have hit the 25% mark of Michigan State Parks visited. On this day, I have run 11 miles. And on this day, I will eat cake.
One day, I will travel all 32 miles of this park system. But today is not that day.
I started at the Pinckney trailhead. My path took me through wetlands and pastures. The trail shared by a few cyclists, an equestrian, and – my personal favorite – man with mug of beer walking his dog. A hole in my water pack left my back very wet, and my mouth very dry. I turned around about a mile shy of the Gregory trailhead.
