Ocqueoc Township, MI
A short distance from Onaway is a promised waterfall. A majestic waterfall. The biggest in the lower peninsula. The next scheduled stop on my itinerary. We get to the parking lot and are dismayed to find it full of cars. Gob starts barking in protest.
What could have been a 6 mile hike is shortened to 1 mile. With so many children and other dogs on the trail, Gobs anxiety is feeding into my anxiety and neither of us are enjoying the nature as much as we should be. We take the short paved trail to the main overlook. The falls are decent. For the largest falls in the lower peninsula, they’re pretty small. Gob is afraid to take a dip in the “rapids” beneath them.

We hug the riverbank and head downstream, unsure if we are on a trail or not. There is another small fall. It’s also nice. Gob is comfortable dipping his toes in.

**Though hours have passed, coffee has not kicked in. Camera is still in night preset. Resultant pictures remain poorly exposed and slightly out of focus.**
