Waterloo, MI
A mile and a half was not enough. Gob needs more adventure. And he can’t wait until tomorrow. Thankfully, Mason is up for another pit stop as long as it’s on the way home. Enter, Waterloo. It was on my schedule for tomorrow anyway (don’t tell but I wasn’t planning to take Gob).
After a few wrong turns, we find the start of Hickory Hills trail. I am instantly happy that we chose to explore this today instead of me returning tomorrow to run it. The shade of the trees means the trail is still mostly ice/snow covered.

Midway through, the snow disappears. The decaying leaves are exposed. For a moment, I am tricked into thinking it is fall again.

As we near the end of our trail, we reach Gob’s favorite spot. A lake. And while the majority is still covered in ice, the shoreline has thawed. Gob is immediately immersed up to his chest. He just stands there, looking out towards the center. Probably daydreaming.

Eventually he wades back to shore. He picks the path of most resistance. Forcing his way through thorny vines, which of course get stuck in his dense fluff. He is mad when I try to untangle the branch stuck to his belly.
