Pleasant Lake, MI
Gob has a bad case of the zoomies. He’s had them for the past few days. So finally with a day off from work, I must fulfill my promise and take him on an adventure. Mason asks to tag along. He must also have some zoomies to get out.

Our first “historic site.” The boys care not to read the history and signage. Gob hops through the grass while I snap these pictures, hunting what I imagine to be meecy mice tunneling under the snow.

Winter is fleeting, meaning the trails will soon be inhabited by more than just us crazies. Nature’s version of a fair-weather-friend will soon confine Gob to his shorter tether. At least today this trail is still ours alone.

Gob walks over the “initial point” markers unimpressed. He stops, mesmerized by the thin layer of water he can see flowing beneath the platform. He hops down, expecting a splash. Instead, he is met by momentary resistance, and then crashes through the thin ice. His paws reach the cool flowing water he so craves.

All beware the bridge troll. He’s back and he’s lurking.
